Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the most representative symbol of China. With a length of 8851.8 kilometers, the wall makes a winding journey through mountains, deserts and plains of Chinese geography.

Despite the imposing building and attempts by soldiers to repel the attacks, the wall was pierced by the Mongols in the thirteenth century and later by the Manchus in the seventeenth century.


At present most of the wall is in ruins, which makes it hard to pass through it. Fortunately, some sections have been completely restored to show its original appearance.





Sections of the Wall

The thousands of kilometers of the Great Wall of China are divided into several sections, although they are all special, each is tailored to a particular audience.

Badaling

One of the most popular sections of the wall is the area known as Badaling restored. This section, located less than 80 kilometers from Beijing, was the first to open its doors to tourism in 1957 and today continues to receive millions of visitors, being the most saturated.

Badaling has a cable car to the influx of visitors to the top of the wall.



Mutianyu

The Mutianyu stunning mountain scenery makes it one of the best choices when visiting the Great Wall of China. It is located less than 90 kilometers from Beijing and, while being one of the most popular, is not as crowded as tourism Badaling.

Facilities include a gondola, a chairlift and a fun slide for which visitors can slide down the mountain after visiting the wall.




Details to consider

The wall crosses mountains and other geographical features, so even simple stretches can be complicated to navigate. The steep stairs make it essential to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Most hotels offer excursions to Beijing Great Wall. Before you get to compare prices, you need to ensure that the tour does not include surprise visit to workshops, factories or stores that make you lose the day.
 



Getting to the Great Wall 

-> Taxi: The easiest option to move to the wall is to hire a taxi all day, and that in this way you will not have to adaptaros' schedules organized excursions and You will be provided entirely on your time. The price of a taxi in good condition is usually around 600 yen for the whole day. 

-> Organised tour: Most hotels offer excursions to the different sections of the wall. In the street I also offer some suspiciously low priced excursions often include stops on some stores.

-> Bus: The bus is the cheapest way to get to the main areas of the Great Wall of China. What Better ask at the hotel depending on the area you want to visit.
